Procurement of services for the Park’nPay app

Parking Australia notes the release today of the New South Wales Auditor-General’s Report into the Procurement of services for the Park’nPay app.
As the report notes, “This audit assessed whether the department complied with the procurement obligations that applied at the time it procured these services” (p. 1) and “focusses on the department’s procurement and contract management processes.” (p. 1)
The report is extensive and comprehensive. In an in-depth examination and analysis of the matter, the report makes a series of important conclusions and recommendations including but not limited to the procurement strategy, for example.

NSW Kerbside Charging Infrastructure Funding Opens
The NSW Government will make $3 million in funding available for round 1 with up to $800,000 per applicant.
- Funding must be no more than 80% of the total installation and equipment cost for each requested EV charger, capped at $10,000 per charge port.

Electronic Permits now Legal in Victoria

Smart Parking puts an end to searching for an elusive parking spot

From Feb 1 Townsville Parking Fine Prices Will Be Slashed
Parking fines will be slashed by more than half after a Townsville City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 23.
Motorists who overstay the limit on a paid car park or do not purchase a ticket will now be charged $31, instead of the previous $37 and $75 fines.

Cottesloe selects DCA Cities to deliver parking management system

Seeking to upgrade their existing parking technology, the Town of Cottesloe opted for an integrated parking technology system to electronically detect parking arrival and departure, accurately detect overstays and transmit details to Rangers hand-held devices.
Tax Relief for Victorian Businesses and Car Park Owners
The Victorian Government is providing more tax relief for Victorians doing it tough due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
Treasurer, Tim Pallas, has announced the Government will also provide much-needed relief for car park owners, with a 25 per cent waiver of this year’s congestion levy. Car park owners can also defer any outstanding balances until next year. This waiver will save car park owners a combined $30 million.
Change Coming to Queensland Number Plates
Queensland’s current number plate series, which features three numbers followed by three letters, is coming to an end after 40 years and the new series is expected to begin appearing on Queensland vehicles in either late August or early September 2020.

Wyndham City signs 3-year contract with Smart Parking
Smart Parking have announced a 3-year contract to supply and install their SmartPark technology solution in over 2,000 parking bays in Wyndham.
The hardware will include over 2,000 vehicle detection sensors installed in individual parking bays to monitor vehicle activity, along with SmartSpot gateways. The SmartSpot gateways are multifunctional communication gateways that relay live parking events from the sensors to Smart Parking’s IoT (Internet of Things) SmartCloud platform.
Edmondson Park commuter car park upgrade approved
Transport for NSW is taking the first step in delivering up to 2,000 additional parking spaces at Edmondson Park Station as part of the NSW Government’s Commuter Car Park Program. Construction on the multi-storey commuter car park to the south of the station will begin in mid-2020 and is expected to be completed by mid-2021.
Brisbane City Council to return to normal parking rates

City of Marion set to embark on smart parking initiative
Following on from the successful launch of the City of Adelaide smart city parking initiative, the City of Marion has just signed a contract with Smart Parking to install its system in over 400 individual parking bays.
The aim of this project is to reduce commuter parking in local streets, as well as reduce commuter emissions. To achieve this, vehicle detection sensors will provide data on individual parking bays, which is then displayed in real-time on strategically placed LED directional signs, as well as the customised wayfinding app.

UbiPark have announced the release of live on-street parking availability. The City of Melbourne is the first city that UbiPark has introduced the on-street data feed for, but more cities will be added soon. Now live in the App Store and Google Play, the release of live on-street parking data aims to solve traffic and congestion issues.
Port Phillip announces plans to install parking sensors
The City of Port Phillip in Victoria has announced plans to install parking sensors in key locations, provide a ‘way finding’ app and implement convenient pay by phone parking across the city as part of new technology upgrades endorsed at a recent council meeting.
“On-street parking is already a scarce commodity in our growing municipality so it’s important to manage this resource as best we can for residents, businesses and the thousands of visitors who flock here annually to enjoy attractions including our beautiful beaches,” said Mayor Bernadene Voss.

EasyPark Parking Meters Upgraded by Ararat Rural City Council
Ararat Rural City Council has announced that all 28 parking meters in Barkly Street have been successfully upgraded.

Alstom to invest €14 million in EasyMile
Alstom is investing €14 million, and thus taking a minority stake, in EasyMile, an innovative start-up company developing the EZ10 electric driverless shuttle. The investment forms part of the start-up’s ongoing capital increase. In parallel, Alstom and EasyMile have signed a commercial partnership agreement aiming at joining their forces to provide integrated solutions for urban transportation. Alstom will be present at EasyMile’s board.
