Perth Member Meeting - 3rd August 2011

Location: Elder Street Car Park and (from there) Citigate Hotel, 707 Wellington Street, Perth

Time: 5:00pm

Topic: Building a Green Car Park

The 1064 bay Elder Street car park recently constructed by the City of Perth incorporates contemporary design and green star features.  Although conventional in nature, the steel and concrete structure required design and construction innovation on a site confined by a 28 unit residential complex on one side and a hotel on the other.  Contaminated ground conditions exacerbated the challenges.

Elder Street recognises that car parks must be more than simply providing a single service.  A number of innovative multi-nodal transportation choices have been incorporated.  While not green star rated the build required the facility to fit within and complement the existing urban fabric and to include energy and resource savings.

The presentation will include discussion on client requirements, the architectural and design challenges, and the construction and site management issues.

Given the multiple construction and operational demands and unique solutions related to the project the talk will be of interest to not only car park owners and operators, but also to professionals who deliver these projects to challenging client expectations.

The group will meet at the Elder St Car Park control room for a tour, before moving on to the Citigate Hotel. Free parking will be provided for the evening.

After the function: interested delegates are invited to relocate to the West End Bar to continue networking over drinks or a light meal (at own cost).
