Abstract: The management of a City's parking supply is never simple and often involves balancing competing interests, many of which find a political voice when change is anticipated or elections are near. The City of Hobart is facing increasing competition from surrounding commercial centres in what may be a declining physical retailing market. Leyon is currently preparing a report that will provide recommendations to Council on how it can deal with the future challenges in managing the on and off street parking supply including the adoption of new technologies to increase efficiency and improve customer service.
