Larry Schneider - President

Larry Schneider is Manager and Principal Consultant of Luxmoore Parking Consulting, a specialist division of the ARRB Group. He is a very experienced parking adviser with more than 25 years experience.  Larry has consulted on all aspects of parking to the private sector and to state and local authorities throughout Australia and in other countries. 

Previously a director of the Wilson Parking Group, he has developed parking strategies and policies, project managed the implementation of new technologies and parking operations and investigated way-finding signage, security and compliance.  Larry believes strongly in sustainable parking practices and the education of all stakeholders. He provided content to the Parking Education Program at Monash University and developed a Parking Operations Training Course which received an Award for Excellence.

Larry has facilitated many workshops to address the parking concerns of different groups. He has presented papers on parking issues and technologies at forums in Australia, Canada, China, Qatar and the USA. He has consulted on airports, city centres, hospitals, shopping areas and universities for many of Australia's largest property owners.

Larry holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law and is based in Perth. He has served on the committee of the Parking Association since 1996.

 

Paul McIlvride - Vice President

Paul is the owner and Managing Director of SABAR Technologies Pty Ltd.

A qualified Certified Practising Accountant, Paul commenced his professional career in a Chartered Accounting Practice and following qualification moved to the commercial sector with positions in Sydney, Papua New Guinea and Fiji both in the private sector and Government.

In 1989 he returned to Australia as a Management Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand and commenced his involvement with the Parking Industry as the Chief Executive of the Adams Group of Companies based in Hong Kong.

In 1994 he purchased the business of SABAR and has been developing the market for DESIGNA Car Park Management and Control Systems since mid 1998. The Head Office of SABAR is now located in Adelaide.

A dedicated Parking Industry professional, Paul brings to the committee his extensive experience and expertise as a car park owner, operator, equipment supplier and consultant.

 

Cristina Lynn - Treasurer

Cristina Lynn is the Managing Partner of Parking & Traffic Consultants (PTC) - a specialist consultancy firm founded in 1980 which provides independent services in the parking and traffic engineering fields to property owners and developers throughout Australia and the Pacific region. The company's client list reads like the "who's who of property" and comprises the major developers and property owners in the area. Cristina holds a business degree and is a Chartered Accountant with many years' experience in auditing, consultancy and business management. Between 1978 and 1990 she worked for Ernst & Young in Sydney and in Italy reaching the level of Senior Manager and subsequently held various senior positions in the corporate world. Whilst the Financial Controller of an entertainment/events business, she obtained an Executive Certificate in Event Management from UTS.

Over the years with PTC she has acquired an intimate knowledge of the fundamentals of car park operations and management which she has successfully applied over an extensive range of projects including airports, hospitals, shopping centres and mixed use developments.

Cristina has been the Treasurer of the PAA since November 2008 and was responsible for the delivery of the Association's Convention and Exhibition held in Sydney in November 2010.

 

Joy Addison - Secretary

Joy Addison is the Business Development Manager of PayTech Solutions, a company specializing in the supply and service of equipment to the parking, banking, gaming, vending and car wash industries.

Prior to this Joy was National Business Development Manager at CHS Australia for 3 1/2 years during which time she acquired an intimate knowledge of the parking industry. During her time there she was involved in sales, service, tender responses and presentations as well as marketing to the various industries.

Joy was a Director of Expitek for many years before joining CHS. Expitek was a cash handling company supplying product and service to the gaming industry, an industry she continued to service during her time at CHS.

      

Leyon Parker - Immediate Past President

Leyon Parker has been a member of the Committee since 1994 and President between  2000 and 2008. He holds professional qualifications in Civil Engineering and postgraduate qualifications in Local Government Engineering and Management.

Leyon is employed as the Strategic Planning Engineer at the Hobart City Council as he moves towards retirement. During his 30 year career at Council he occupied various Engineering positions including a time as The Director of Transportation Services and as Group Manager Road and Traffic Engineering  where his positions included responsibility for road engineering assets and policy, traffic engineering and the management of the Council's on and off street parking supply. In his current role he is involved in project management of new car park construction, major equipment upgrades and policy development for parking management in the City of Hobart. 
Prior to joining the City of Hobart in 1982, Leyon was employed by the City of Sydney where from 1970 he was involved in the design and construction of that city's streetscapes and other road infrastructure projects

The Hobart City Council together with other Australian Capital Cities was a founding member of the PAA and has remained a strong supporter.

 

Anthony Karam

Anthony Karam was appointed as Managing Director of Mark Sensing Limited on October 2008.  Anthony was appointed the Managing Director of the TMA Group in 1996 and has had twelve years experience in the thermal paper market.

In October 2008 Anthony was appointed to the Board of Queensland Gaming & Wagering.  Anthony holds a number of director positions in companies located in Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong and The Philippines.

Anthony has been a member of the Australian Parking Association since 1996 and is a member of several other industry associations including the Printing Industry Associationand the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).

 

Rob Turner

Rob has an accounting background and has been actively involved in the parking industry in various capacities since 1985. He was first elected to the PAA Committee in 2000 and has previously served as Treasurer and established the Secretariat role to provide increased services to the Association Membership.  

Rob is a Director with Pripark (Qld) and Pripark (SA) providing operations and management services to the industry. He has recently joined the TTM Group of Companies as Director of TTM Consulting (SA) providing practical Car Park consulting and management services and solutions throughout Australia.

 

Doug Forster

Doug is a Civil Engineer with post-graduate qualifications in management. He also holds a Company Director’s qualification. Having worked in most states of Australia he has a sound knowledge of local conditions particularly in relation to general transportation and parking demands.

The City of Perth is the largest public parking provider in Western Australia and the third largest in the nation. The operation and management of parking in Perth is a substantial part of Doug’s portfolio as Director Business Units

CPP City of Perth Parking is the parking business arm of the City of Perth. In 2010/11 the business will gross some $55 million which includes both on-street and off-street parking activities. In the past decade, the City has either built or leased some six new facilities including the 1,500 bay Convention Centre and the 1,067 bay Elder Street car parks. Both facilities are state-of-the art and encompass many Green Star sustainable energy innovations.

Peter Zanon

Austrian-born Peter Zanon is based in Victoria and is the Managing Director of Commend Australia Pty Ltd. His career highlights are below:

1992 – 2000 Sales Manager Commend Austria (build market for Commend Intercoms in Austria)

2000 – 2003 Sales Manager Commend International (startup Commend USA)

2003 – recent Managing Director Commend Australia (startup Commend Australia)

Peter is specialised in communication solutions for car parks, high rise buildings, airports and wherever people require to communicate quickly, effortlessly and reliable with excellent quality.

Graham Arndt

Graham is the Director of Asset Management at Curtin University in WA.

Parking became a part of his portfolio in September 2006, and he has been actively involved in raising its profile since then.

Parking at Curtin has the lowest satisfaction ranking of all services, and Graham has been actively introducing changes—including changing from permits to pay-as-you-go parking—to improve the level of satisfaction. Graham is also involved in developing alternatives to single-occupant vehicles such as public transport and car pooling. He has appreciated the support of PAA members during these change processes.

Graham was one of the initiators of, and a member of the organising committee of, the inaugural Tertiary Parking Management Workshop in 2009.

Graham has qualifications and experience in management, computing and education. He is a keen, but not very good golfer, and good, but not very keen, gardener.

 

Tony May

Currently on the Committee and is the State Manager in NSW for Care Park Pty Ltd.
